Old Trace Design/Build Stream Restoration Project

The Old Trace Stream Restoration Project is a stream restoration project funded by the State of Kentucky Finance Cabinet with funds from the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife (KY F&W) Fee In-Leu Of (FILO) program.  This particular project is a design/build project.  

Bluegrass Stream partnered with HMB Engineers and Beaver Creek Hydrology in order to provide a complete package deal for the project.  HMB Engineers and Beaver Creek Hydrology performed the engineering tasks while Bluegrass Stream provided the construction and implementation of the design.  

The Old Trace Stream Restoration project is located in Lewis County, Kentucky, in the Kinniconnick Creek watershed.  The restoration project includes preservation, enhancement, establishment, and re-establishment of approximately 17,000+ linear feet of various streams.

Various structures such as rock cross vanes, constructed riffles, rock/log native riffles, and vertical snags  will be used to provide grade control, bank stabilization, and aquatic habitat to the restored watershed.  Native trees, shrubs and grasses will be planted throughout the riparian corridor of the mitigation site as well.  

Features:
- Approximately 17,000+ linear feet of stream being preserved, enhanced, established or re-established to the watershed.
- Various rock and wood structures installed to provide bank stabilization, grade control and aquatic habitat to the stream.
- Native riparian corridor was established.
